STAIN automated four of the plant’s departments (3 polishing and 1 chemical washing). Below is a description of the STAIN’s solution applied to one of the silicon wafer polishing departments. |

The department comprises a series of automatic machining centres where all the stages of the polishing process takes place. Each machining centre is controlled by closely integrated PLCs, robots and supervision stations. |
|
The first machining centre prepares the silicon wafers for polishing. The prepared material is relayed by an automatic sorting system piloted by radio-frequency readers to the polishing centres. After polishing, the material is sent to the measuring station for final testing. The operating parameters are adjusted automatically based on the measurements taken for the first wafers in each production batch in order to keep the process under control. The material is then placed automatically in final containers ready for despatch to the customer. |
